TD-SCDMA Update

- About 92% of the TD-SCDMA capacity expansion project in Baoding, northern China - the only TD-SCDMA trial network constructed by China Telecom - has been completed to date, Chinese Sohu News reported. The construction is scheduled for completion at the end of December 2007.

- With TD-HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access)standard currently still under development, the China Academy of Telecommunications under China's MII (Ministry of Information Industry) recently revealed that another TD-SCDMA-based standard, named TD-HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access), is slated for release in June 2008. Application products leveraging the TD-HSUPA technology are slated for commercialization in the third quarter of 2008, Chinese-language China Business News reported. The TD-HSUPA project was initiated by China's CCSA (China Communications Standards Association) with the support of major Chinese TD-SCDMA equipment suppliers, including Datang Mobile, ZTE, TD Tech, and Spreadtrum.
